Bellingham Aviation Services Awarded DESC Contract

Bellingham, Wash., April 28, 2010 - Bellingham Aviation Services (BAS), a leading aviation service organization in northwest Washington State, has recently been awarded a Defense Energy Support Center (DESC) contract through 2014. As part of DESC’s Into-Plane program, BAS is the exclusive aviation support service for all Military and Federal Civil agencies operating at and into Bellingham International Airport.

“We are proud to be part of the Into-Plane program with Air BP Aviation,” said Vanessa Oliver-Nielsen, President of BAS. “The awarding of this contract is recognition of our capabilities and experience to perform this important service for military and federal civil agencies.”

Given its strategic location and International Airport status, Bellingham serves as an important point of operations for several government agencies. BAS will serve an integral role in servicing government aircraft in both emergent and non-emergent situations.

Air BP has fuelling operations at over 170 airports globally. Each year, highly trained and dedicated staff re-fuels more than 1.5 million aircraft, delivering over 10 billion litres of fuel. Fuellings take place at airports of all shapes and sizes where Air BP operates a variety of fuelling equipment ranging from simple curb side dispenser pumps (some with self serve capability typically serving private light aircraft), fuellers at intermediate airports and high flow dispensers at major airports.

The Defense Energy Support Center's mission is to provide the Department of Defense and other government agencies with comprehensive energy solutions in the most effective and economical manner possible.

Bellingham Aviation Services (BAS) is the full-service fixed-base operator (FBO) located in Bellingham, Washington. Just 20 miles south of the Canadian border, 50 miles south of Vancouver, B.C. and 90 miles north of Seattle. BAS offers a wide range of services from fueling and flight instruction, to aircraft maintenance, avionics and concierge services.
