Bellingham Aviation Services Welcomes Olympic Silver Medalist
Bellingham, Wash., February 10, 2010 - Bellingham Aviation Services (BAS), a leading aviation service organization in northwest Washington State, is pleased to welcome Steve Mahre, World Championship Gold medal winner and Olympic Silver medalist in downhill slalom skiing.
Mahre will be at BAS located at 4201 Mitchell Way, welcoming customers to Bellingham, signing autographs and answering questions on Thursday, February 11th at 4:00 pm for an hour or two.
“It is such an honor to have a great Olympic athlete such as Steve on site,” said Vanessa Oliver-Nielsen, President of BAS. “His extensive experience, impressive background and personable attitude are sure to help us kick off the Winter Olympics in style.”
Located outside of the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) zone that blankets the Olympic Winter Games, BAS is expecting many aircraft to Bellingham and still has lots of available ramp space for parking private jets and charters during the Winter Olympics.

Steve Mahre won the World Championship Giant Slalom title in Austria in 1982 and and the Silver medal in the Winter Olympics in Sarejevo in 1984 for the Slalom competition. With his brother Phil, Steve was on the US Olympic team from 1976 – 1984 and the World Championship team from 1978 – 1982. In their years on the World Cup alpine skiing circuit, Steve and his brother Phil elevated American skiing to its highest point in history.
Today, Steve and his brother Phil operate the Mahre training center in Deer Valley, Utah sharing their vision for a lifetime of skiing. “To ski your best, learn from the best”.
